Wien Geschichte Wiki Wikibase
The structured-data layer of the Wien Geschichte Wiki: entities, properties and statements extracted from the historical knowledge base of the City of Vienna. Use it to inspect individual records, follow relationships, and query the data with SPARQL.
Explore Entities
Persons
Biographical entities connect people to dates, places, occupations, sources and original WGW pages.
Examples: Karl Menger, Felix Slavik, Hans Hahn
Query people
Places
Districts, streets and topographical objects become queryable nodes instead of isolated article text.
Example: Döbling
Open place queries
Buildings
Building-related data can be linked to addresses, time spans, categories and source statements.
Imported properties include building type, address and related WGW resources.
Query buildings
Organizations
Associations, institutions and administrative bodies are represented as reusable entities with references to the source graph.
Use labels, original URI properties and relationships to navigate from one institution to another.
Query organizations
Events
Events and historical moments can be queried by labels, dates, related entities and original WGW categories.
Useful for timelines, event clusters and provenance checks.
Explore events
Images and Media
Image metadata is imported as structured statements. File rendering depends on the corresponding media files being available in this Wikibase.
The import preserves source filenames and image-related predicates for later media enrichment.
Find media data
Time Periods
Periods and dates can be queried across entities once the relevant statements are imported.
Use this for chronological slices and historical context graphs.
Query time data
Concepts
Categories, concepts and controlled labels from WGW RDF become properties and entity relationships.
Start with properties or inspect a populated item.
View properties
Work With the Data
Query the graph
Use the Wikibase Query Service to run SPARQL against entities and direct claims. The current import is still running, so query results will grow as more statements are added.
Inspect source-linked items
Data-rich examples already show how the import maps WGW RDF resources into Wikibase items, labels, original URLs and statements.
Start with Karl Menger, Felix Slavik, Ingeborg Bachmann or Hermann Bahr.
